Walk the harbour foreshore to the iconic Sydney Opera House at Bennelong Point, once a gathering place for Aboriginal people before European settlement and named after a notable Indigenous man, Woollarawaree Bennelong.
Authentic Connection
Next join Drew, your Aboriginal guide, at the Royal Botanic Gardens, a beautiful oasis in the centre of the city rich in colourful Indigenous culture. Learn the captivating history of the people and plants associated with the oldest botanic gardens in Australia in a safe and comfortably distanced way.
Drew is an Australian Aboriginal man born in Gadigal country. He is from the Arakwal language group of the Bundjalung Nation from the Northern Rivers, thereby making him a black sand, saltwater person. As a well- respected Indigenous story-teller, Drew shares his wealth of knowledge that was passed down to him from older generations.
Indigenous Flavours
On arrival Drew will conduct a welcome ceremony, opening your mind and soul to the learnings of the land. You will then be taken on a 2-hour walking tour through the Botanic Gardens – giving you an insight into the oldest living culture on Earth.
A keen chef, Drew gives an insight into native flora with a focus on Indigenous bushfood. Over a gourmet private picnic lunch in the gardens you’ll be able to taste some of Drew’s family’s traditional recipes as well as contemporary creations using native ingredients.
Conclude the day with a visit to an authentic Aboriginal Art Gallery.
